MISS GAY PHILIPPINES 2009: BOOM REYES
I have been searching for photos and stuff for the recently concluded Miss Gay Philippines 2009 at the Music Museum on March 17. To my dismay we only know that the winner is Ms Boom Reyes from Bohol and there was no mention of the other winners. But at least GMA has the above video ...!
As the pageant is patterned to the Binibining Pilipinas - there were six awards namely:
MISS GAY PHILIPPINES - UNIVERSE
MISS GAY PHILIPPINES - WORLD
MISS GAY PHILIPPINES - EARTH
MISS GAY PHILIPPINES - INTERNATIONAL
MISS GAY PHILIPPINES - ASIA PACIFIC
The news focused on the judges which were former beauty queens and the politicians who attended, but no mention about the names of the other winners. Hopefully, a report will be soon written about this....
Boom Reyes, will be representing the country to the annual Miss International Queen in Thailand in October. There was no contest held last year though due to the worsening peace and order situation in Pattaya Thailand - where Tiffany and all the other Gay Beauty Pageants are being held.
If you have more information and clearer photos on this ... please give me the link. Thanks a lot :)

LAURA DUNDOVIC: MS AUSTRALIA UNIVERSE AT THE LMFF
L'oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival is going on and ends on Sunday March 22. Fashion shows and events are popping up in Melbourne now and then, and the ones that I really love (as they are for free), are the ones they do in public !
.
Of course, you've got to be ready with your camera (and charged batteries) as there are celebrity sightings ... Just like the one standing infront of moi was the ever famous LAURA DUNDOVIC, Miss Australia Universe 2008! I was not sure whether everyone recognized her but I immediately did ... so I did not waste my time, of course!
.
.
I was just so starstruck stunned - as she is indeed a Goddess of epic proportions!

HAPPY TOGETHER ???
Some people are happy together.
Some people are happier when they are not together.
Some people are unhappy because they can't be together.
And some will never be happy even if they are together.
- from Candy Rain (Feature Film in Melbourne Queer Film Festival 2009) This sums up most of the relationship issues that are given much relevance and weight in GLBT world. But I guess this applies to everyone - straight and homosexuals, as we are all the same boat in the matters of the heart, soul and mind.
I guess being in a relationship now for seven years, with one person, it all boils down to the question of growing, freedom and self fulfillment.
As everyone is unique - there are no rules, no book of love that really applies perfectly.
Whether you are with someone or alone, you are still an individual - and happiness - is a state of mind that you constantly create or destroy or share ...

THE BEBE GANDANG HARI PHENOMENON ....
Too much has been said about the bloosoming of Rustom Padilla now known as Bebe Gandanghari (or Baby Beautiful King) .... has he turned into a crossdresser? a post op transgender or transexual? Or a drag queen or princess?
No one really knows - and it should not be anyone's business per se. I believe that the person is entitled to his or her own journey towards self actualization, freedom and happiness. And the fact that she is not hurting anyone in the process is the point of the matter. We owe him or her due respect. Without prejudice or judgement.
As a public figure, the transformation from a matinee idol, hunk and even action actor to an effeminate gay guy and then to a pre-op transgender could be too much for the minute minded individuals in the Philippines ...
Some people including the crossdresser gay guys and comedians (Vice Ganda, Chokoleit, and even Ricky Reyes) are making pesos in their tirades, making Bebe a laughing stock and a circus freak .... But these are all done for their own self interests ... perhaps!
Is it too late for Rustom or Bebe to bloosom? Does he or she even pass for a woman or a lady, or a beautiful transgender now that there are so many of them - prettier and younger at that? Is her styling up-to date? Is she glam and fabulous enough?
"Bebe is illustrating a point .... She is happy in her exploration, never too late, no right or wrong - just happy and basking in her new found fredom and frankly enough she does not give a damn! Get it?"
"For sheer bravery, for giving the Filipinos a shock value and another eye opener, and for new found style and glamour - I give Bebe a TEN out of ten! Happy Life Funtastique, sister, mwahhhh !!!"

Based on the press photos and videos ... Agree!

VIVIEN ST JAMES : A STAR LIVES ON FOREVER .....
TODAY, I was soooo saddened when I read in Melbourne's Gay Magazine - MCV - that Drag Performer extraordinaire - Vivien St. James, died yesterday, March 4.
Earlier, I thought that she did recover and was winning over that brain tumour which was diagnosed earlier this year .... but unfortunately she died during the operation.
I have seen a lot of performances of Vivien (and even had some fotos with her - she is truly nice and sweet) .... particularly the Divas Downunder Shows where she truly inspired me a lot in her "One Night Only" rendetion .... and ohhhh, that unforgettable Diana Ross impersonation - "Touch Me in The Morning" ... I will always remember her with that amazing gown and how she worked it, those Diana Ross huge wigs and finesse! She is perfectly amazing and yes ... one of the finest Melbourne and Australia has ever seen !
What a great loss in the Drag Queen community - but ohhh, she will be forever remembered !!!

Once seen, forever remembered ...
Your life is truly funtastique !!!
